THE DROPOUT CRISIS

Community summit features discussion, speakers, workshop, resource fair

WHAT: The first of Project U-Turn’s series of “Turning-it-Around” community summits focused on the areas and populations of the city hardest hit by the dropout crisis. This summit focuses on North Philadelphia and African-American Males.

Program includes: presentation of statistics on the dropout crisis in North Philadelphia, break-out discussions on the community’s role in addressing it, a resource fair, keynote speaker, testimony from youth on their schooling experience, continental breakfast, and give-aways.
 

WHEN: Saturday, March 29th
10 am to 2 pm
 
WHERE: The Nu Sigma Youth Services Beacon Center
at Ben Franklin High School
550 N. Broad St (near Spring Garden St.)
 
WHO: Keynote speaker: Marc Lamont Hill – writer, national news commentator, and assistant professor of urban education and American studies at Temple University

The summit is free and open to youth, parents, community members, service providers and others -- particularly who live and work in North Philadelphia.
